As English is our official company language, all applications must be in English. Knowledge of German or French is a plus but not considered a must.

First, your application will be evaluated by our HR team to see if your profile matches the position you have applied for. If you make it to the shortlist, we will contact you directly to begin the interview process. If you don’t hear from us within a month, your application was most likely unsuccessful. Due to the high volume of applications, we’re not always able to give detailed feedback.

At Black Forest Games we are always looking for talent, and we would love to hear from you. Just send us your CV and portfolio and explain what you are looking for.

Yes, feel free to reapply.

In case multiple positions spark your interest, feel free to apply. Just keep in mind that you must specify the titles of the position you are interested in. Send separate applications and add the title of the position you are interested in in the subject line of your e-mail. Please also explain why you could be a match for both positions.

All our listed positions are based on-site, in our studio in Offenburg.

Black Forest Games collaborates with a relocation partner to offer you the smoothest possible arrival in Germany and to help you settle in. That includes a month of housing, help to look for permanent accommodation, support for residence and work permit application, etc.

We do offer internships in most of our departments at Black Forest Games for students who need to complete a mandatory internship. The usual length of the internship is one semester or six months.

At Black Forest Games you will have the opportunity to bring in your contribution by actively working on our current projects.

We’re currently not offering such positions.

Your application should have a CV & a portfolio highlighting your work. This should be sent by e-mail. Please add a few lines explaining when you would be available to start working and what’s the best way to reach out to you.

Read over the job description and make sure you know what is expected of the role. You can familiarize yourself with our games (and yes, playing them really helps). Also, read through our website and get more information about our company history and especially get to know our company values
Communication is key! We recommend being thorough but concise. We want to hear about the details of the challenges you’ve met and how exactly you solved them. Your personal contribution to your current or previous company, accompanied by concrete examples, is especially important to us.

As a good rule of thumb try to look presentable and at the same time be comfortable in the clothes you are wearing. Office casual is the way to play it safe, so don’t feel obligated to overdress just because this is an interview.

A portfolio is a perfect way to make your application stand out, allowing the hiring team to see your work and what you are capable of. It is indeed true that for some roles a portfolio is more relevant than for others, but most of our open positions do require the submission of your portfolio along with your resume.

The length of the candidacy process varies depending on several factors. We usually try to arrange the first round of interviews within a month of the time you’ve applied for the job.

The start date is flexible as in some cases people need to prepare more paperwork, have longer notice periods and so on. Your starting date shall be decided together with the HR Department.

Pursuing a college degree in a relevant field like art or tech is the easiest way to get into the games industry. For instance, we offer internships in all our departments for students who are interested in learning more about the processes behind creating a game. You can also find plenty of tutorials and other types of learning material online, to improve your skill set.
